Yesterday, I started listening to an audiobook called The Things You Can See Only When You Slow Down by Haemin Sunim. It's a short listen—less than three hours—but in the prologue, the author urges us not to rush. Instead, he suggests taking time to reflect after each chapter.
This advice felt different to me. Normally, if there's a book, course, or anything I’m excited about, I want to consume it as quickly as possible. But this time, I decided to slow down. With only eight chapters, I made a plan: one chapter a day.
The first chapter was about rest—not just sleeping better, but truly slowing down and resting. Inspired, I took a bath last night with Epsom salts, played soulful Christmas tunes, and just...relaxed. I can’t lie—it felt amazing. And to my surprise, I had one of the best night’s sleeps I’ve had in a while.
This morning, during meditation, a thought popped into my head: Where are you rushing to?
Looking back, I realized I’ve spent so much of my life going and going, barely stopping to enjoy the moment. I’m always thinking about the next thing, the next goal, the next milestone. But what’s the hurry?
So here’s my question to you: Where are you rushing to?
Let’s remind ourselves to rest, slow down, and savor life’s simple moments. Maybe take a bath tonight, meditate, or simply pause and breathe. Life is too precious to race through it.
I’d love to hear from you: What small way will you slow down today? Let’s inspire each other.
